In life, God often places dreams, visions, and promises within our hearts long before we see them come to pass. There are moments when circumstances seem uncertain, delays appear discouraging, and the path ahead feels unclear. Yet in those moments, one powerful force keeps believers moving forward – Hope. Hope is more than wishful thinking. It is the confident expectation that what God has promised will surely be fulfilled. It is the foundation that gives faith its power and direction. Without hope, faith grows weak. But when hope is alive in our hearts, faith becomes strong, resilient, and able to endure every challenge. In today’s message titled Hope: The Anchor of Purpose,” Evangelist Paul Acquah shares on how holding on to hope connects your faith to the reality of God’s promises.

Be blessed as you listen!

Having hope means that you have a positive, confident expectation of good. Hebrews 11:1 says, faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. Therefore, hope is crucial for fulfilling God’s purposes for your life, as it connects your faith and reality. Hope is a “power” that fuels your imagination, allowing you to visualise God’s promises rather than current, negative circumstances or situations. So how does hope enable you to  accomplish God’s purposes for your life? Here is how hope enables the accomplishment of God’s purposes: Hope is your confident expectation of goodrather than just wishful thinking.  Divine hope is the ability to see yourself as God sees you.  See yourself healed, prosperous, accomplishing what God has asked you to do. This positive, substance of things hoped for,  is necessary to activate your faith.

When facing difficulties, hope acts as an anchor, preventing you from being swayed by negative circumstances, and walking away from God’s purposes for your life. Hope overcomes Impossibility: like Abraham (who hoped against hope).  Maintaining a positive expectation allows you to believe for results that seem impossible in the natural. Hope Drives You Toward God. A hope rooted in the Word of God keeps your focus on His promises, which in turn motivates you to act and fulfil your divine purpose. If you lack hope, you will struggle to move forward and embrace the purpose God has given you to achieve.  By renewing your mind with the Word of God, you can cultivate a positive confident expectation of goodthat drives you to accomplish the purposes God has for you.

I have seen people commit abortion because they had no hope.  People today look at it and think I don’t have the money to fund this child,  I can’t give this child everything that they need,  I’m a single parent, I’m already stressed out,  I’m already maxed out and they look at things concerning themselves and they have absolutely no hope for that child’s future. So, based on nothing but selfish things they decide to end a life – to kill a person because they don’t have any hope. The Lord was leading you to open that business, but you didn’t have hope so you took no action. You evaluated yourself and it looked bigger than you could handle in your own strength instead of trusting in the God of hope.  You had no hope; you forgot that you would need God in that situation. Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit Says the Lord.

One of the surest signs that God is calling you into something is when the vision feels overwhelming—so much bigger than what you think you can handle on your own. God’s call often stretches us beyond our comfort zones. You need to have  hope to accomplish what vision that God gives you so don’t rely on your natural ability.  You are to give your best effort while trusting God with the results.  Seek God’s wisdom and guidance through prayer, meditation on scripture, and seeking counsel from trusted mentors and advisors who share your faith. The bible says there’s wisdom on the counsel of multitudes. He who called you is able to do it in you and through you (Ephesians 3:20).  I tell you, if you would start looking at things through the eyes of the Lord you could have hope in hopeless situations. There are many of you that you know you are just going by the way that the world does things and people are making decisions based on no hope and you have adopted that.  I’m telling you that if there is life present, if there is breath then you need to have some hope.  God can take that life; God could change this future. and we need to be having hope.

Hope and faith are connected. You must have faith and declare that it’s well with me no matter what. This is not wishful thinking; it’s not about daydreaming.  There’re a lot of people who are experts professional daydreamers. Have you ever just wasted time daydreaming? You’re driving, you’re doing the dishes, you’re at work and you’re just daydreaming.  Sometimes our daydreams can just be what we wish we could be,  and  what we wish we could do.  Sometimes we put ourselves in a movie that we’re thinking about.  Sometimes we’re wishing we had someone else’s life.  You can do a lot of different daydreaming, and it can be dangerous because so much of our time usually with daydreaming, we’re imagining our flesh and what our flesh can be or do.  It can be the flesh but what I love about hope is hope is taking our Godly imagination and it’s letting the spirit of God begin to create these positive pictures inside of us and desires inside of us of what could be happening.  Then we start to say yeah that’s right I could be that and again it’s not because of your flesh but now you begin to see things through the power of the spirit of God.

So, hope is crucial for fulfilling God’s purposes for your life. How do you keep this hope alive within you?  Keep your hope alive by focusing on the goodness of God and the power we already have in Christ.  We can do all things through Christ. Don’t focus on your own strength.  One of the things I love about the word of God is that not only does it tell you who you are, who God is, what he’s done for you, but it also paints a picture of the future.  It paints a picture of what we are called to be as sons and daughters of God. Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 says now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask think or imagine according to what the power that works within you.  The power that works within us is what allows God to do abundantly above all that we could ask think or imagine in our own flesh.  This is why it’s so important to spend time in the word of God.  The time that we spend in the word of God and with the Lord it’s about looking in this mirror (the bible) to see who we are in the spirit.
