 A Sermon

Evangelist PAUL ACQUAH,
Live on MZ Radio London, London UK.

Have you ever wondered what truly captures God’s attention? In a world that praises appearances and achievements, what does it take to rise higher in God’s eyes? Throughout the Bible, promotion and exaltation by God are consistently tied not to status, appearance, or outward accomplishments, but to the condition of one’s heart.

While people are often impressed by external qualities, Scripture emphasises that God looks beyond appearances, searching for hearts that are pure, humble, and fully devoted to Him. So, what does God see in your heart? Is it humility? Obedience? Or courage?

In today’s message titled “Promotion based on the heart,” Evangelist Paul Acquah explores the fact that true advancement in God’s sight begins inwardly. God promotes those whose hearts align with His purposes and character.

Be blessed as you listen!

God looks at the heart.  The Lord knows your heart. “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”        (1 Samuel 16:7). The LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.” What’s your heart attitude and relationship with God?  God looks at your heart to promote you. keep your heart sensitive to Him. The giants in your life won’t stand a chance as you keep trusting God and being loyal to him. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” ( 2 Chronicles 16:9). God is looking at your heart and if he can find you loyal to him, he will promote you. The word “loyal” in this text of scripture doesn’t mean, sinless or problem free. It means someone whose heart is fully committed, completely belonging to the Lord; someone who is seeking God with their whole heart.

God is actively  and persistently looking over the earth and ready to intervene and demonstrate His strength for those who are devoted or loyal to Him and then promote them.

God will promote you because you are loyal to him. You don’t have to be a silver vessel to be promoted, just a surrendered one. It’s not your ability; it’s your availability God is interested in. God is looking for people who will make Him first in their lives. Your response to the Lord right now ought to be, “Look no further! Here I am! I’m turning my life over to You with my whole heart.” If you will genuinely do that, you’ll be promoted. You’ll see God’s blessing come to pass in your life. Once you have begun to seek the Lord and He releases His anointing on your life, you are like a cork. They could put you on the bottom of a lake, but you will still rise to the surface. It doesn’t matter what they do. You’re like cream— always rising to the top! If you seek God with your whole heart, the eyes of the Lord will find you.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). He’s looking for a person like that. He’ll pass over everybody in your nation, village, and city just to find you. Once He locates you and releases His power into your life, He’ll cause you to be drawn to the top. God will release His blessing through you into this world. It’s just a matter of time.

Prepare your heart to seek the Lord. He is not looking for people with talent, education, or natural abilities. He’s not against such people, but neither is He for them. What God is looking for is a heart that seeks after Him. God promotes people based on their heart. If you hunger and thirst after righteousness, you will be filled.  To hunger and thirst for righteousness ultimately means that one yearns for God.

Those who long for the Lord—the true King of kings, and the Lord of lords, not a false god of their own imaginations—will find Him and be filled to overflowing with joy, peace, happiness, and true contentment.  “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). You won’t only be satisfied and have your needs met, but you’ll also be filled with the power, presence, and provision of God. He will pour you out and make you a blessing to other people. God is looking to promote people. God looks at the heart. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, stay faithful and God will promote you. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” ( 2 Chronicles 16:9).

Let’s relate this to the workplace.  “Employees, be obedient to them that are your employers according to the flesh with fear and trembling in singleness of your heart as onto Christ.  Not with eyeservice as men pleasers but as the servants of Christ doing the will of God from the heart with good will.  Doing service as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does the same shall he receive of the Lord whether he be bond or free” (Ephesians 6:5- 8).  God looks at the heart and rewards or promotes us accordingly. The bible is instructing servants or employees to serve their masters or employers faithfully, with a good attitude. Some people might think, “Why should I do that? They don’t care and will never notice my attitude or performance anyway.”  The Bible made it clear in this text of scripture that the reason for diligence is not the recognition of man but the recognition of God.

The Lord rewards us or promotes us for the way we serve others; it doesn’t matter if our deed is large or small. Even our smallest acts of kindness will be rewarded.   “If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward(Matthew 10:42). He looks at the heart and rewards us accordingly. Understanding this keeps us from being servants to man (1 Corinthians 7:23).

If our service is really unto the Lord (Ephesians 6:7), then we will not be motivated by the threats of others. God is our source, and our service is to Him. The manager may authorise your pay or salary, but it is God who promotes us. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.  But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.  (Psalms 75:6-7). Those who serve others as unto the Lord with good will from the heart will shine like the sun.  Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear” (Matthew 13:43).

The Bible says don’t serve with eyeservice as men pleasers but as the servants of Christ doing the will of God from the heart with good will. It is true that the Lord will show us overall goals and direction for our lives, but doing a good job for our bosses, managers or supervisors is also the will of God. Every activity we engage in as believers should be done for the glory of God. The reason Christians can perform their tasks from their hearts, even when serving ungodly people, is because the service is performed for their heavenly Master, Christ, and not just their human masters. Regardless of who we are, we must do each task with joy, integrity, diligence, and energy because we represent the Lord, and others will form their opinions of Him through what they see in us.There are thousands of everyday, practical ways that we fulfil the will of God in our relationships and actions. It would seem logical that until we begin to fulfil God’s will in these small yet important ways, there is no point in the Lord showing us His long-term will and promoting us. (Luke 16:10-12).
