A Sermon Delivered on Wednesday evening, November 4th, 2020, by
Evangelist PAUL ACQUAH, Live on MZ Radio London, UK
The single greatest privilege in life is to know God. The God who formed you, provides for you, and sent
His son to die for you longs to have a real relationship with you. He longs to be known by you, and through the powerful sacrifice of Jesus, we truly can know Him like any other person. In fact, in some respects, He is infinitely more knowable than any other person. No matter who you are, or what you’ve done, you can know the God of love and count on the wonderful aspects of a relationship with your heavenly father as you wholeheartedly seek to know Him. God is calling us to a life of seeking Him with all we are. He is calling us to value our relationship with Him above all else. The purpose of this message is to stir your heart up to simply seek a deeper relationship with your heavenly father.
I want to ask you a question, what in the world are you hungry to know about? I want to challenge you with another question: do you know Jesus personally? Is He closer than a brother to you? Well, you know you are, or you aren’t. Do you know God? Do you know His will for your life? We are on this earth to increase in the knowledge of God. It’s not only about knowing God, but increasing in the knowledge of God. We are not talking about just knowing who God is, or just having somebody tell you that He exists, but you having an intimate walking relationship with Him. That’s what we are talking about. The Bible says in Jer. 9:23-24 that,
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the LORD.
This was what God spoke through His prophet, Jeremiah. It’s the will of God that every single person has
the knowledge of Him and His will. Almighty God in heaven wants us to learn about Him more than
everything else or anything else. Do you think God is more interested in you learning about trees, seasons and the birds, the oceans and technology, medicine, history, literature and mathematics? Yes, God is interested in whatever you are involved in and do well, but what God wants you to increase in knowledge about above everything else, is who He is and how He operates in a person’s life.
Nothing but a true knowledge of God can make a person successful in life. Don’t go for the dictionary’s
definition of success. Nothing but a true knowledge of God can make a person successful in life. This is
because knowing Him means that you will know how He operates, and you will consistently seek His will
and direction for your life. Knowing God intimately will enable you to see things, not the way the world
sees them, but seeing things from God’s viewpoint. You will understand God’s mind and have knowledge
about how He operates in certain situations and circumstances. You will comprehend what God is up to in your own life. You can distinguish between the world’s wisdom and Godly wisdom, and know what God
is saying to you. You will have the knowledge of His will, and His wisdom and understanding in your life.
Incredible! It’s so important to know God and know His will for your life.
Not settling for anything in life except what God wants for you is what makes a person successful in life.
Make it your top priority to know God intimately by having intimate relationship with Him, and He will
show you His will for your life. God will make it very clear to you how you are to invest your life. He will
help you to make the right decisions in life. He will fill you with the knowledge of His will. You will grow
in the Lord and have a deep yearning desire to know His will and that’s a life of success my friend. By doing things from God’s viewpoint and understanding what He is up to in your life, you will be able to
have lasting impact and a positive influence on others and that will in turn cause them to want to know God and glorify His name. Halleluiah!
How will you know the career you have to pursue without having an intimate relationship with the Lord
and knowing His will for your life? Why will you spend time, money, and other resources in college,
university or an apprenticeship without knowing the exact purpose of God for your life? That’s a good
question to answer. I think it will be very wise to seek the Lord for His will for your life. It will be wise
financially, and also in other areas. In every aspect of your life, you need to seek God and know the way
He operates. You need to see life from God’s point of view, and not the world’s viewpoint, and live your
life on the bases of that.
So, what’s God’s purpose? What’s His plan for your life? What’s God’s will? What does He want to see in
your life? These are fundamental questions you’ll need to answer as you conduct our life. That means
understanding things from God’s point of view or seeing things and perceiving things as they are, just as
they appear to be, to know God and how He operates. Knowing the will of God for your life is so important because it prevents you from wasting your time, gifts, talent and treasure.
Normally when I ask young people, what career do you want to pursue? What course do you want to do in the university or college? What do you want to major in, in university? What do you want to do in life?
Most of them say they don’t know. You, young man or woman out there, have an intimate relationship with the Lord and seek His direction for your life. If you don’t, then you have to figure it out for yourself. Why should you spend three to four years in college, university or an apprenticeship, studying all kind of things that will not profit you? Why should you pay huge amount of money that will not profit you in the end?
How can you live with no sense of direction? That’s not a successful life. Only God can help you to find
out. Therefore, you need to know Him in an intimate way. You will have a sense of direction given to you
by God. You will begin to view things from God’s perspective. The most important thing for us to know is
who God is, how He operates and what’s His direction for our life? Not just what you are going to do for
the rest of your life, but what’s God’s direction for tomorrow morning? What’s God’s direction for the next
step I want to take? What’s God’s will in the decision I’m just about to take? Are you depending on the
decisions of your friends and the people you work with?
You hear your friends saying, you ought to do this, you ought to do that. Ask yourself, what’s God’s point
of view on this? In this decision making, what’s God’s viewpoint, what’s He saying to me? You must learn
to listen to Him. God is willing to reveal His will to you if you are willing to listen to Him. If you are willing
not just to consider it, but to do it. The all-wise God who created us has a sense of purpose for our lives.
Therefore, He knows what’s best. However, sometimes we tend to think we know what’s best. You should not lean on our own understanding but acknowledge Him, and then He will direct your path if you’ll trust Him. Our path is there, but only God can direct us.
So how do we go about knowing God and how He operates? Compare your time being consumed by the
latest news and with the Bible. Many spend more time reading, watching or listening to the latest news item than they do with the Bible. They spend more time reading magazines than they do with the Bible. People’s television or mobile phone use interferes with time spent with the Lord in prayer and Bible study or time spent with things of eternal value. Remember all that God has blessed you with, are you satisfied with knowing so little about Him? I ask you this question. He delights in us knowing Him. Let me tell you that there is nothing in this world that will satisfy you as much as knowing that you understand and know God.
We have been given an amazing privilege to know Him, so spend time to enjoy His presence every day,
and experience His incomparable love, power, wisdom, protection and blessings. Spend time talking to the Lord, spend time listening to Him by studying His word, spend time seeking His direction my friend. He says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the LORD OF HOST.
Our world is saying exactly the opposite, they are boasting in everything except knowing God. Knowing
God is the greatest thing that can ever happen. It’s very important to know God. Everything that God is,
and everything that God has and can do for you really comes through personal relationship with Him. If
you can get this point and place proper value on knowing Him, you will experience an explosive growth in
your life. You will then be able to do what the Bible says; that let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and
righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.
The NKJV says:
But let him who glories glory in this, hat he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the LORD.
Glorying is to render, or to magnify and put worth and value on it. If you could just start truly valuing and
knowing God and understand what that does and the opportunities it opens to you, it will transform your
life. When God is the focus of your life, when He is the centre of everything you do, it doesn’t matter what else is going on, it just makes your life stable. It just makes you live a successful life; a life that’s at the direct centre of God’s will.
Our confidence must be in God, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it. The whole of the
universe is upheld by the power of His word. He is the Lord of all, so don’t trust and boast in your riches,
in your strength, in your wisdom and achievements. Think about yourself and other people, how many
people are bragging about the things that they know. How many people talk about their degrees, frame them and put them on the wall and take great pride in them? We are not saying it’s wrong to have
accomplishments and to use them, but in a relative and comparative sense, how many people actually glory or boast in God and their relationship with Him more than they boast in their education, wisdom, and in all the things that they have done that is proving their wisdom.
Intelligence, power and riches can all make people think that they are in control – but the idea that you are in control always comes to an end. In contrast to the proud, arrogant, boastful people, believers must boast that they know the Lord and refuse to say anything about themselves and ministry that is not true and God given. We are to boast only in God, that we know Him.
If you have not trusted Christ as your personal saviour, there is nothing worth to boast about, but if you
will, you may receive Him right now and pray this prayer after me.
Dear Lord, I recognise that I am a sinner and need to be saved.
I understand that Jesus died in my place and suffered the judgment of all of my sins.
I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and He is at the right hand of the father.
Lord Jesus, I surrender my Life to you.
Come and Live in my heart and be my Lord and saviour.
Thank You for saving me. AMEN!
